How to retain your charity's donors
|
|
by Redina Kolaneci, MJI UK
Do you know how many donors who gave in 2006 continued to support your charity in 2007?
How many new supporters did you gain in 2007?
How many donors did you lose in the last
financial year? And, do you have any plans
in place to get them back the habit of supporting your charity?
If you don't know the answers to these questions, read on and learn how to increase the effectiveness of your fundraising efforts before your next mailing.

| Why I still love direct mail |
|
by Barry McLeish, MJI USA
Certainly there is more than enough direct mail being sent out by charities. Just ask the individuals receiving it!
There also seems to be a wholesale embracing of the discipline by many charities and their fundraisers.
What then provokes the arguments, limits the funds received in the meantime, and causes some donors to either limit or stop their giving to charities as a result of the fundraising appeals they receive?

| Spreading the word online |
|
|
by Rachel Collinson, Rechord Ltd
So you've got a website? That's good, but next door's shed does too. (I kid you not - just have a look at: www.readersheds.co.uk) So, don't expect floods of visitors without doing something to promote it.
The chances of someone stumbling across your site by accident are, to put it bluntly, very low, and getting lower by the minute, even if your home page is good enough to win a Bafta.
However, the good news is that there are plenty of ways to promote your charity online, and most of them won't cost you a bean either. Once potential supporters have found you, and provided that what is featured on your site is inspiring and interesting, they will come back again and again.
